Issue No. 1 Hi Folks, This is the first not-so-hot already Newsletter out of the print house. We hope it's the first of many to come. I should tell you that I am not a professional editor nor typesetter, so anyone looking for typos, errors, etc. won't need to look hard. They are all in here. But this is not the scope of this newsletter, is it? So what is? Since many users have expressed their wish to have a forum where they can exchange ideas, or get help, or advice, regarding the problems they may have encountered with their Bev speakers, this newsletter attempts to address all that. I'm sure some of you out there who have run into problems may have solved them nicely. We'd like you hear from you, to share your ideas, effort, and results with all of us - like what fixes worked, what didn't, etc. The Newsletter will also try to keep you updated with what's happening at Beveridge Audio, with news of today and of the past. We hope some corners, such as "Then and Now", the "Bev Corner" and obviously "Troubleshooting" will become regular features. At one point, the issue of speaker placement in the room also seemed to preoccupy some of you - any experience or thoughts on that are welcome. Who knows, it may even turn into a hot debate. I have recently finished scanning a seminal article by Harold Beveridge in which he exposes some of his ideas concerning sound reproduction at home. It makes important and fascinating reading and explains many of the principles behind these speakers. You'll find the article in the White Paper page.
Speaking of news, Rick has recently completed the first production of several brand new and improved transducers (as the photo above shows). They work beautifully. However, there's a little story behind this particular photo, something you might call "spot the difference". You'll find it on the next page (click on the Then and Now link). I should secretly let you know that my "editorial" energies will diminish to a considerable extent, in fact in direct proportion to the amount of interest and contribution that you will show in these pages. Now that I own two pairs of Bevs, I've got plenty to do elsewhere - like listening to them, for example. You see, I have been waiting for them for a while, some eighteen years, so enough is enough. (Who says it ain't worth waiting?) You may have gathered by now that I'm a Bev fan. You're right, I am. The biggest. But please remember that I'm only one, and this magazine is for the many of you. So don't be shy; start writing right away about anything concerning the Bevs. If you have any interesting bits of material about them, please send it in and share it with us. That's how this Newsletter will prosper.
So please
Arthur
